Although my adult career has focused on event planning and event coordination, I was raised in an auction family. My parents owned Pearson Auction Company in Virginia for approximately thirty years, and I was their #1 clerk for the first 10 years in business. I continued to help once in awhile after that. I'm familiar with paper ticket writing, as well as auction software to record sales. I spent many Thursdays and Saturdays in front of a crowd by the auctioneer's side keeping track of seller codes, items, bids, and buyers. I often directed the stage hands on what to sell next and where to take the item. I assisted the spotters and often coaxed bidders into 'one more bid.' After the auction items were sold, I'd move to the cashier's area to lend more help. In more recent years, I've taken part in some charity auctions. While I do not have any recent experience, I believe it's like riding a bike - one never forgets.
I'm interested in part-time work and would welcome a phone call to be scheduled for an upcoming auction.
