I have been in the automotive industry for over 35 years. I started with one location in the New York City and only 4 employees. As the industry changed, I changed my marketing strategy and business plan. I went to local dealers, insurance brokers and banks and promoted my business and one that was unique. We went to customers homes to do estimates and to dealerships (as needed) to do estimates for their customers. With the dealers, I had them supply the parts that were needed and at the time I gave them an unheard of 30% off my labor cost. As word of this got around, my dealer work expanded from just 4 dealers to over 35. I was a DRP for Liberty Mutual and I had a large business of local customers. I computerized all my parts inventory, paint and tint inventory as well as using a computer to write estimates before CCC was on the market.
In 2007 after 22 years I sold my business because of the cost of living in NY and I considered my self semi retired.. For a few years I did auto lease return inspections for Mannheim. I enjoyed that position very much and was sad when my contract was not renewed because of the company doing the inspections at their auction houses.
I relocated to SC where I currently live in Murrells Inlet. I enjoy the auto industry and I would love to return to it in any way that I can. I am open to contract work or part time work.
