I began working for Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers in June of 2009, and worked for them as an auction clerk for 7 years. The auctions are scheduled every 3 months, and are live for 1 to 2 days. The opportunity became available to me through recommendation, and was something that I enjoyed, and excelled in. Auction days are exciting, and I looked forward to them.
For the last 20 years I have been working in the Service Industry, as a server and bartender. Customer service, sales, customer relations, were the core of my employment and responsibilities. These, in addition to, multitasking and accuracy, translated well to working for Ritchie Bros. as an auction clerk.
Due to Covid-19, my most recent employer has not re-opened. This is giving me the opportunity to pursue different opportunities, and possibly re-visit this type of employment, potentially moving into a more permanent position.
Responsible for recording buyer identification and selling price during live auction. Assisting clients with any questions and directing them to the appropriate professional. Multitasking, accuracy, and friendly customer service are a must, in a high stress environment.
